The spokesperson for the Donetsk regional military administration of Ukraine Tetiana Ignatchenko told CNN.
"About 4,500 civilians remain in Bakhmut. Including 48 children who cannot be evacuated because they live in places that are no longer accessible," she said.
The spokeswoman noted that these people do not lack food and medicine.
"There is food, water and medicine in the city. People were provided with everything in advance," said Ignatchenko.
At the same time, she believes that "the situation is extremely dangerous for civilians" and urges people to evacuate.
