A peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine is still a long way off - Antonio Guterres

He told it to reporters after a conversation with Putin, CNN reports.

"We are still far from the end of the war. There is no ceasefire in sight," he said, adding, "I would be lying if I said it would happen."

They also discussed the issue of prisoners of war. Guterres quoted Putin as saying that Russia would not stand in the way of a team conducting a fact-finding mission in an attack on a colony last month in the Russian-occupied region of eastern Ukraine.

In addition, Guterres noted that he also spoke with Putin about the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
