72nd Russian Brigade tries to hold positions, while Wagner fighters flee in Bakhmut – AFU Major Zhorin
The former commander of the Azov regiment, Major Maksym Zhorin, noted that due to the successful operation in the south of Bakhmut, an important section of the front was recaptured
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"An offensive operation was planned and launched on the flanks of Bakhmut, namely in the south. The operation was successful. We managed to drive the enemy out of their positions. These positions were occupied by the Wagner forces and the 72nd Brigade of the Russian Federation. Prigozhin said a lot that the 72nd Brigade of the Russian Federation had allegedly fled, and that the Wagner fighters were good. No, the 72nd, unlike the Wagner mercenaries, tried to hold their positions, and the Wagner soldiers fled from their positions immediately after the assaults began. Most of them were killed while trying to escape. The 72nd was knocked out and destroyed. Their positions are under Ukrainian control," noted Zhorin.
Maksym Zhorin also added that thanks to this local offensive, an important section of the frontline has been recaptured. It will be possible to develop successful actions from this area.
