5,000 Ukrainian children remain in affected area from Bakhmut to Vuhledar
Natalia Voronkova, head of the Volunteer Hundred of Dobrovolya NGO, urges parliament or government to recognize the frontline territory as a dangerous area for children
She shared her opinion with the Espreso TV channel.
"There are almost no children's doctors and hospitals left in Bakhmut, Avdiivka or Vuhledar, which means that children's rights to medical care are violated. Also, educational institutions have been destroyed in these cities, there are no surviving schools or kindergartens, thus violating the right of children to education. In addition, shops and cafes do not work in this area, so the right of the child to normal nutrition is violated. If we add the destroyed infrastructure of the city, the absence of the State Emergency Service, constant shelling of both settlements and roads, then even these criteria are enough for the Verkhovna Rada or the Cabinet of Ministers to recognize this territory as a dangerous zone for children," she said.
Natalia Voronkova noted that it is not only Bakhmut or Avdiivka, but also about Ocheretyno, Mariinka district, Kurakhove, Maksymilianivka and many other towns and villages.
"I have calculated that about 5,000 children remain in this war-torn area, starting from Bakhmut, Soledar and up to Vuhledar," emphasized Voronkova.
