The Pentagon adds that, in total, the United States has allocated more than $24.9 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden Administration. Since 2014, the United States has committed more than $27 billion for security assistance to Ukraine and more than $24.2 billion since the start of Russia’s unprovoked and brutal full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Earlier, the White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre announced the provision of a military aid package during the briefing.  She noted that her colleagues from the Department of Defense will inform about the content of the new military aid package later. But she suggested that the package "is expected to include Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled howitzers and other weapons."

Karin Jean-Pierre added that the aid package includes $225 million for long-term strengthening of Ukraine's military potential and modernization of Ukrainian Armed Forces. Also, $682 million is allocated to US partners on the eastern flank of NATO for purchase of weapons.

On his Telegram channel, head of Ukrainian President's Office, Andriy Yermak, wrote that aid package from the US included "goodies": HIMARS; MRAPs;  Sea Sparrow anti-aircraft missiles; also M2 Bradley.

  • On January 5, officials told the Associated Press agency on condition of anonymity that a new package of aid to Ukraine from the United States will include several dozen Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

  • On January 4, Biden confirmed that the United States is considering the option of supplying Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. They are called light tanks.  France and Germany are ready to provide similar weapons to Ukraine - on January 4, it became known that Paris will hand over AMX-10RC light combat tanks and ACMAT Bastion armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine.

  • On January 5, Biden and Scholz announced a joint arms package for Ukraine, which included Bradley, Marder and another Patriot battery.
