24 countries support Ukraine at Hague court regarding "Donbas genocide"
The International Court of Justice has already received 24 statements from states that support Ukraine's position in the case "Ukraine v. Russia" regarding the violation of the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide
Anton Korynevych, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, made this statement in The Hague, Ukrinform reports.
"There are already 24 statements by states in support of Ukraine's position. Russia communicates with the court and is involved in the process. The case is essentially based on the fact that Russia deliberately has been manipulating and speculating that Ukraine had been allegedly committing some mythical "genocide" for 8 years, in particular on the territory of Donbas. We prove in the case that these are manipulations and speculations, that in this way the Russian Federation violates the sanctity of the concept of the Genocide Convention, because genocide is the most serious of international crimes," he said.
Korynevych also noted that Ukraine had to submit a memorandum on the merits of the case by September 23. "We submitted it on July 1. We did everything we could to submit it as soon as possible," he emphasized.
