200 mobilized Russian soldiers arrive in Donetsk region to replenish losses – General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on April 17.

“It has been established that due to the lack of clear instructions on their further tasks, the short period of individual and collective training, as well as the unsatisfactory level of equipment, these soldiers have a low level of morale. That is why the new occupiers are looking for any excuses to avoid fighting,” the report says. 

Ukrainian aviation launched 12 strikes on Russian military positions

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also shot down an enemy reconnaissance UAV of the Merlin type.

In turn, missile and artillery units struck two manpower concentration areas and one enemy electronic warfare station over the day.

Russia launched 34 airstrikes and 31 MLRS attacks against Ukraine during the day

Occupying Russian forces are attacking at the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled over 50 enemy assaults in these areas. Bakhmut and Marinka remain the epicenters of the fighting. 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire line of contact: 3 settlements in the Sumy region, as well as 5 more in the Kharkiv region were attacked. 

The situation in other Ukrainian regions: 

• In the Kupiansk direction, 5 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under shelling. 
• In the Lyman direction, 5 towns and villages in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under artillery shelling. 
• In the Bakhmut direction, fighting for the fortress city continues. 9 localities in the Donetsk region were subjected to numerous Russian attacks. 
• In the Avdiivka direction, the invading Russian forces attacked 8 settlements in the Donetsk region. 
• In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the Donetsk region. At the same time, 4 localities came under enemy fire.
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, 7 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the Russian troops. 
• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, 17 cities and villages were subjected to Russian shelling.
