200-300 civilians and 50 soldiers died in Irpin - mayor Markushyn

This was stated by the mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushyn, reports Ukrinform.

According to him, it is impossible to say the exact number of those who died in Irpin, since large-scale hostilities in the city.

"People were simply buried by residents in the yards, on the territory of the park. I think about 200-300 people, unfortunately, died. Unfortunately, 16 guys from our territorial defense died, 29 are in the hospital. If we take into account the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then, I think, somewhere up to 50 people died, unfortunately, and another 100 were wounded", Markushin said.

He added that the number of victims will increase, as many civilians were under the rubble of high-rise buildings and private houses.

"We see that 50% of the city has been destroyed, no one has yet cleared the rubble, and for 100% there are people there, many have left, of course, but many remain", Markushin said.

He clarified that about 3.5 thousand people now remain in Irpin.
