Zelenskyy says Ukraine willing to purchase major military aid package from U.S.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes Ukraine is ready to purchase a large aid package from the United States and will consider it as a security guarantee
Interfax-Ukraine reported the information.
"Regarding the additional package, we want it, we are ready for it, and we have presented a large package to the American side that we want to purchase. We want to buy it in one form or another. This is our format for how we will pay for it. And we have not asked for the future package for free. We consider this even as a security guarantee," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with journalists.
The President explained how this agreement could be linked to security guarantees. According to him, if Ukraine receives the necessary aid package, including air defense systems and other vital tools that the country is ready to pay for, it would then consider this a guarantee of its own security. The head of state emphasized that this is where the connection lies.
Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine had asked the United States for at least ten Patriot air defense systems, which it was also ready to pay for.
"This is protection, it will help us after the war ends, it's a security guarantee that Ukraine will be covered by air defense. There are many different formats and tools we are ready for. We were ready to find 30 or 50 billion for the corresponding package," the president stated.
- On April 6, the president said that Ukraine is capable of establishing its own production of air defense systems and missiles, but that it needs political support.
