Zelenskyy may fly to G20 summit if Putin is present - Podolyak
If the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is present at the upcoming G20 summit, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may also attend the event, a meeting of world leaders held this time in Indonesia.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak in an interview with BBC.
According to him, Zelenskyy has not yet decided whether to accept the invitation to the G20 summit, but if Putin decides to fly to Indonesia, then he will have to think about the presence of the President of Ukraine there.
"This will be decided concretely closer to the summit, this is the first. Second, the president believes that he should be on the territory of Ukraine, and today online formats allow us to work effectively at any summit. But there is a third - if Putin is present, then of course, we will have to think about the need for our presence," Podolyak said.
In his opinion, the presence of the Russian dictator at such events legitimizes the aggressor country in the eyes of the world community.
"Putin's presence anywhere, at any summit, indirectly means that the organizers of the summit legitimize the position of Russia, which attacked a sovereign state. You seem to let everyone else know in this way: look, we think that Russia had the right to come and kill Ukrainian children. This is the way to treat it," Podolyak is convinced.
The meeting of the leaders of the G20 will take place on November 15-16 in Bali.
