Zelensky, Tsikhanouskaya and Ovsyannikova are to receive Media Freedom Award
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, leader of the Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova will become the owners of the award of the German media group Weimer Media Group (WMG)

This year's award is dedicated to the struggle for freedom in Eastern Europe.
The award ceremony will take place on 22 April as part of the WMG-organized Ludwig Erhard Memorial Summit in Gmund am Tegernsee in Bavaria. It should be held by the head of the faction of the European People's Party in the European Parliament Manfred Weber.
"Ukrainians, Belarusians and Russians are at the forefront of the fight against evil, against war and tyranny in Eastern Europe and courageously defend their freedom, as well as our freedom. With words, deeds, great courage and their lives", the message says.
The Media Freedom Award will be awarded for the eighth time. It is given to public figures who, in the opinion of the jury, are particularly committed to freedom of expression, social interaction, political dialogue and democracy. Already receiving the award: Austrian ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and German Finance Minister Christian Lindner.
