Zelenskyy to join special European Council meeting: details

A senior EU diplomat confirmed this to Suspilne.

Journalists obtained a draft communiqué that will be adopted after the emergency meeting of EU member states on March 6. Key points include:

• No negotiations on Ukraine can take place without Ukraine.
• No talks on European security can happen without Europe at the table.
• A ceasefire is only possible as part of a comprehensive peace agreement.
• The agreement must include solid security guarantees for Ukraine.

The EU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine to ensure it enters negotiations from the strongest possible position.

Suspilne also learned that the EU is considering appointing a special representative for potential peace talks to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Additionally, on Friday, March 7, the President of the European Council will hold a briefing with selected non-EU partners who attended meetings in Paris and London after the EU summit.
