Ukraine signs security agreement with Poland
On July 8, in Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk signed an agreement on security cooperation
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the agreement, Poland is to provide Ukraine with several more military assistance packages this year and continue to provide support over the next 10 years. Poland will also consider the possibility of sending at least one additional MiG-29 squadron (at least 14 fighters) to Ukraine.
"For the first time among the bilateral security agreements already signed, the document enables the interception of missiles and drones in our country's airspace fired in the direction of Poland," the Presidential Administration's press service said.
"Also for the first time, the security agreement provides for the creation of the Ukrainian Legion – personnel of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine to be trained in Poland, which will be open to Ukrainian citizens temporarily residing in Poland and other countries," it added.
The agreement stipulates the terms of cooperation in the defense industry, including the location of production facilities of Polish defense companies in Ukraine.
The document also states that Poland will continue to operate the POLLOGHUB logistics hub and use the potential of the LitPolUkraine Brigade to build up the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the non-military sphere, in particular in intelligence, cybersecurity, maritime and information security, and critical infrastructure protection.
Separate blocks of the agreement deal with economic recovery and reconstruction, border infrastructure, and the development of transit potential.
Political cooperation includes issues of European integration, implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula, sanctions, compensation for damages to Ukraine, and bringing the aggressor to justice.
Warsaw should also support Ukraine on its path to the EU and NATO.
In total, Ukraine has already signed 21 bilateral security agreements: with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the US, the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, and Poland.

In the morning on July 8, the President's Office reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy would first meet with Donald Tusk in person, and then in an expanded meeting with delegations.
"Negotiations are planned on the continuation of defense cooperation, support for Ukraine on its path to European integration, and expectations from the NATO summit to be held in Washington. They will also discuss Poland's participation in the restoration of Ukraine, trade development and humanitarian cooperation," the statement said.
"Persistence and courage. These words best describe Zelenskyy's attitude in the battle for a secure Ukraine and a secure Europe. You can always count on us in this fight," Tusk wrote on his X page, welcoming the start of the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
- Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the bilateral security agreement with Ukraine is almost ready and will be "99%" signed before the summit in Washington, D.C., on July 9-11.
