Vance: U.S. will pull out of Russia-Ukraine talks if there's no "positive response"

“We will withdraw from mediating between Russia and Ukraine if we do not receive a positive response,” Vance said.

He added that the Trump administration has made a “clear and fair proposal” to both Russia and Ukraine.

• On April 22, the Financial Times, citing its own sources, reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin told U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff that Russia is ready to freeze the front line and drop its claims to four occupied regions in Ukraine.
• The Telegraph, also citing sources, reported that Donald Trump proposed a peace deal allowing Russia to keep nearly all the territories it seized from Ukraine. The plan is part of a seven-point proposal to end the war, which doesn’t include solid security guarantees for Ukraine from the U.S.
