The challenges for Poland and Finland in the field of security and border protection are the same. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Helsinki. He said that he had spoken with the head of Finnish diplomacy, Elina Valtonen, in particular about Ukraine and its sovereignty.
Minister Sikorski also noted that Poland and Finland support Ukraine's European aspirations.
"Neither Finland nor Poland want to be a colony of Russia again. And Ukraine has the exact same right not to be a colony of Russia again. Together we will do a lot to prevent that from happening," summarized the Polish Foreign Minister.
In the context of the anniversary of Finland's and Poland's accession to NATO, Radosław Sikorski emphasized that Poland and Finland share a common history, which means that both countries have a common view on the most important issues of security, values, rule of law and self-determination.
During the meeting, Poland and Finland also exchanged experience in the field of security and border protection.
