The Spanish Ministry of Defense's press service reports.
It is noted that for five days, the Spanish patrol vessels Atalaya and Vigía tracked the Russian landing ships Ivan Gren and Alexander Otrakovsky, as well as the tanker Kola in the territorial waters of Spain.
On March 21st, the patrol vessel Atalaya spotted a group of three Russian ships northwest of the peninsula. After identification, the Spanish vessel followed them until they reached the border with Portugal, where it was replaced by the frigate Bartolomeu Dias.
From March 23rd to 26th, the vessel Vigía monitored the Russian ships passing through the waters of the Bay of Cádiz.
In particular, the Spanish patrol vessel was conducting maritime surveillance and security tasks, observing the maritime traffic line connecting Cape San Vicente with the Strait of Gibraltar.
No incidents within the 'maritime surveillance and security operation' conducted by the Spanish Navy were reported.
