Trump arrived in the United Kingdom for his second state visit, during which the two countries will sign investment agreements.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.K. Chancellor Rachel Reeves led events ahead of Trump’s arrival, announcing the establishment of a “Transatlantic taskforce” to deepen cooperation between the countries.

On Wednesday, September 17, Trump will meet with King Charles III at Windsor Castle.

A day later, Starmer will host Trump at Chequers, a 16th-century estate in southern England, to discuss investment, tariffs on steel and aluminum, ending Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Starmer’s spokesman called this state visit “a historic opportunity” that comes “at a decisive moment for global stability and security.”

“The Prime Minister will discuss the challenges facing our countries and the opportunities before us at the beginning of a new era of our deep and unprecedented relations,” he told reporters.

  • U.S. President Donald Trump on September 17 renewed his criticism of Europe’s continued purchases of Russian energy, saying NATO and EU countries must halt them "immediately."
