According to the National Security and Defense Counsil's Center for Countering Disinformation, two manipulations appeared on May 24.

Manipulation: Commenting on the discussions in the US government about allowing Ukraine to strike Russian targets with Western weapons, Canadian journalist Aaron Maté said: “All these steps increase the risk of direct confrontation. It's a crazy game this administration is playing. In addition to fully exploiting Ukraine, sacrificing itself and its people, it is playing with the risk of bringing what Joe Biden called 'Armageddon' closer.”

"This is yet another manipulation aimed at portraying Ukraine's self-defense efforts as steps towards escalation of the war. In fact, Ukraine has every right to strike at military targets in a country that has been waging unprovoked armed aggression against the Ukrainian people for ten years," the Center for Countering Disinformation explained.

Manipulation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on his X page: “Disgusting scenes in the British Parliament as failed Politician, Serial liar, and War peddler Boris Johnston platforms the Nazi adoring Azov Battalion. A grave insult to the tens of thousands of British men that died fighting the Nazis. Shameful.”

"The journalist is spreading the myth of propaganda about the alleged Nazi ideology of the Azov battalion to demonize the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are defending their homeland. In fact, the Nazi ideology is inherent and rooted in the actions of the Russian Armed Forces, which the Azov battalion fighters are fighting," the Center for Countering Disinformation said in a rebuttal.

  • Russian propagandists are spreading fake information that Zelenskyy has allegedly refused to return hundreds of captured soldiers to Ukraine.
