Russian Justice Ministry, Foreign Ministry report to Putin the Taliban movement, banned in Russia, can be removed from terrorist organizations list
Russian propaganda outlet TASS reports.
Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Department of Asia at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the Russian Foreign Ministry “positively” assessed the possible removal of the Taliban from the list of banned organizations.
“This is a must. Without this, it will be premature to talk about recognition. Therefore, this issue continues to be worked out. All considerations have been reported to the top leadership of Russia. We are waiting for a decision to be made,” he explained.
In addition, he said, Russia has expressed a desire to see the Taliban among the participants of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“Traditionally, the Afghans are interested in continuing to expand cooperation in the purchase of petroleum products from Russia and other high-demand goods. Of course, it will be promising to talk about using Afghanistan's transit capabilities to expand trade with the vast region,” the diplomat added.
- On May 2, it was reported that the Taliban, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan are planning to build a logistics center in western Afghanistan for regional exports, including Russian oil.
