Polish security services discover listening devices in government meeting room
Polish special services found and neutralized listening devices in the room where a meeting of the Council of Ministers was to take place on Tuesday
The Polish edition of RMF24 reported the information.
According to the outlet, the device was found early in the morning on May 7 during a routine inspection of the premises where the meeting was to take place.
“The State Protection Service, in cooperation with the Internal Security Agency, found and dismantled devices that could be used for eavesdropping in the room where the Council of Ministers is to meet today in Katowice,” said Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services.
He added that the special services are taking further measures in this case.
At the same time, according to Alicja Waliszewska, a spokeswoman for the voivode of Silesia, such devices were once intended for communication between officials.
“According to my information, it is a device that was used to communicate between remote offices and it was installed by a former, now retired, employee of the office,” she said, adding that she had no information on when the device was installed.
Waliszewska assured that the government meeting scheduled for today at the Silesian Voivodeship Office in Katowice would take place as scheduled.
