He made this remark during a press conference on December 13, responding to a question about the possibility of deploying peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, as reported by Radio Liberty.
"The first and most important duty of Poland within NATO, as a frontline country, is the defense of our own territory. In doing so, we also protect the rest of the Alliance. We share a border of more than 600 kilometers with two hostile countries, Belarus and Russia. This is our top priority," Sikorski explained.
He also emphasized that Poland is committed to supporting Ukraine in other ways. "About 90% of all supplies that reach Ukraine come through Poland. We are also, of course, ready to assist our allies," he added.
- Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump believes that European forces will need to be deployed in Ukraine to monitor adherence to the ceasefire.
