Polish farmers stage blockade on German border in protest

On Monday, February 26, Polish farmers took to blocking a checkpoint on the German border near Frankfurt an der Oder, marking their protest against agricultural policies

This was reported by Spiegel.

Polish farmers' blockade of a freeway near Frankfurt is expected to impact traffic in Brandenburg until Monday afternoon.

Authorities advised motorists to steer clear of the A12 autobahn, suggesting alternative routes through the Pomellen crossing on Autobahn 11 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Forst on Autobahn 13.

Even those traveling by car were urged to avoid the A12. On Sunday evening, tractors, vans, and trucks created a traffic standstill on the city bridge in Frankfurt from the German side. German farmers are mainly protesting a proposed cut in subsidies for agricultural diesel fuel.

According to Polish media, some farmers await a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, seeking a reversal of the EU Green Course policy.

Banners held by protesters declare messages such as "We are waiting for the prime minister" and "EU policy is destroying farmers."
