Pistorius details leak of German officers' Taurus missiles discussion

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius revealed that the disclosure of a conversation among German officers regarding Taurus missiles resulted from a "dangerous connection," where one participant utilized either mobile network or hotel Wi-Fi

Pistorius stressed that the breach did not involve hacking into the department's communication systems but rather stemmed from a personal error.

"Not all participants followed the secure connection procedure," noted Pistorius.

The leak originated in Singapore, where an officer connected to the confidential Bundeswehr conversation using an unsecured connection during a visit to an air show on February 19, involving Brigadier General Frank Graefe.

In the published telephone conversation, Air Force Commander Ingo Gerhartz and Brigadier General Frank Graefe discussed Taurus missiles without using an encrypted line, relying on Webex video conferencing software. The recording, lasting 38 minutes, is under investigation by Germany's military counterintelligence service. Pistorius initiated a preliminary disciplinary investigation into the involved officers.

• On March 1, RT propagandist Margarita Simonyan released an intercepted audio recording of Bundeswehr officers discussing Taurus missile strikes on the Crimean bridge. The German Ministry of Defense, on March 2, confirmed the interception but refrained from commenting on the content.
