This was confirmed by government spokesman Daniel Vodă, according to Reuters.

He stated that the drones entered Moldovan airspace around 11:00 p.m. local time, coinciding with reports of a Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s neighboring Odesa region.

Vodă noted that the drones exited Moldovan airspace near the city of Taraclia in the south, close to the Taraclia-Bolgrad checkpoint on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

Later, Moldova’s Foreign Ministry condemned the airspace violation.

We strongly condemn the illegal violation of Moldovan airspace by drones resulting from Russian aggression against Ukraine. This is a serious security risk and a disregard for our sovereignty,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry added that Moldova will continue to invest in airspace protection to safeguard its citizens from potential threats.

  • Following the attack on Odesa’s port infrastructure on the night of February 13, fragments of Russian drones were also discovered in Romania.
