Iran's potential strike against Israel: Insights from Association of Middle East Studies
Ihor Semyvolos, director of the Association of Middle East Studies, highlighted that the Israeli military is on high alert for a possible attack from Iran. However, he noted that Israel is actively engaged in negotiations with both the United States and Russia
He stated it on Espreso.
Semyvolos stated, "Iran's strategy appears to be to exhaust Israel's resources with the belief that “waiting for death is worse than death itself”. While the Israeli military is prepared for an Iranian strike, it's uncertain whether such an attack will occur immediately. The prolonged state of heightened readiness cannot be sustained indefinitely. This strategy is quite apparent. Simultaneously, Israel is engaged in active negotiations with both the Americans and the Russians."
Semyvolos emphasized the importance of Russian support for Iran in the conflict, given Russia's possession of air defense systems in Syria.
"However, simultaneously, the Russians have an agreement with the Israelis. This situation, where Moscow and Israel are involved, adds to the intrigue. Nothing has been decided yet, but Iran has stated its intention to strike Israel independently, choosing both the time and place. This presents a challenge for Israel, as its typical strategy involves selecting the time and place of strikes. This adjustment somewhat alters the strategic landscape," summarized Ihor Semyvolos.
