For the first time since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Moscow to reaffirm the "strong ties between the two countries"
Bloomberg reported the information.
Kremlin Foreign Policy Advisor Yuri Ushakov announced Modi's trip on Tuesday, noting that the exact dates of the visit would be confirmed later.
According to a senior Indian official, Modi's trip to Moscow will be a short official visit - his first since 2015.
India and Russia have deep economic and political ties. In addition, India is a major buyer of Russian oil.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Moscow remains the largest supplier of military equipment to India, accounting for 36% of India's arms imports.
Both countries are also members of the BRICS group of countries, with Russia holding the rotating presidency of the bloc this year.
As for condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Modi has avoided criticizing Russia in every possible way and advocates a diplomatic solution to the war.
