China suggests Indonesia join forces to resume Ukraine-Russia talks
During a trip to Indonesia, Li Hui, the Chinese government's special representative for Eurasia, proposed joining forces to “restore peaceful dialogue on the Ukrainian crisis”
He said this during talks with the Director for American and European Affairs of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Umar Hadi, Ukrinform reports.
The Chinese special representative stated that there remained a risk of escalation and expansion of the combat zone between Russia and Ukraine, and emphasized that it was now very important for all parties to contribute jointly to de-escalation and cooling of the situation.
Li added that earlier China and Brazil announced their six-point "peace plan," which, according to him, received a positive response from the international community and could be used as a basis for resolving the war.
Hadi mentioned that Indonesia highly appreciated the positive role of the consensus between China and Brazil and expressed readiness to cooperate with China and relevant parties to jointly find a solution to "the crisis."
At the same time, the Chinese side emphasized its readiness to cooperate with Indonesia to "resume negotiations" between Kyiv and Moscow.
Li stated that China was ready to work with Indonesia to uphold the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which include respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference in internal affairs, equality of relations, and peaceful coexistence. Li also expressed a commitment to working together to create conditions for the early resumption of direct dialogue and negotiations between the concerned parties.
