China responds to U.S. election results
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the results of the U.S. presidential election, expressing support for "peaceful coexistence" between the two nations

"China's policy toward the United States is consistent. We will continue to develop our bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, answering a question about how the outcome of the U.S. presidential election would affect China's foreign policy and relations between the two countries.
At the same time, the spokeswoman refused to answer the question of how China is preparing for the possibility of raising tariffs on Chinese goods, as Donald Trump had previously promised to do.
