World medical star brought to Lviv new prosthetic technology for Ukraine
A new prosthetic technology for Ukraine, which allows a patient to walk the very next day after surgery, was brought to Lviv by the world-famous doctor Munjed Al Muderis
This was reported by the First Lviv Medical Association, according to Espreso.
The new technology is called osseointegration prosthetics, which means that an artificial limb is implanted in the bone. It was brought from Australia to the Unbroken Center (Lviv, Ukraine) by doctor Munjed Al Muderis. He has fitted one and a half thousand such prostheses in the world, and in April he will install the first one for a Ukrainian.
The doctor spent three days at the rehabilitation center in Lviv. He acquainted Ukrainian specialists with the "secrets" of osseointegration prosthetics, looked at a hundred patients and performed several operations together with traumatologists.
"Dr. Munjed Al Muderis is a star of world medicine. He is the Man of the Year in Australia. The man himself is from Iraq. He grew up in a war-torn country and saw many people traumatized by the war. Since childhood, he has dreamed of helping people become mobile again. He came to Australia by boat as a refugee. He spent a year in a detention center, and then started working on the latest prosthetic technology," the doctors say.
They note that the technology of osseointegration prosthetics is a long-standing dream of Ukrainian doctors. It allows fitting prostheses to people with "high" leg amputations. Unfortunately, there is a great demand for such prostheses.
