U.S. drifting from Ukraine, siding with Russia on key issues — expert
Given recent events, it’s becoming harder to see the United States as a true partner to Ukraine. In fact, on certain issues, Washington seems to be siding with Russia
Mykhailo Honchar, Ukrainian expert on international energy and security relations, president of the Center for Global Studies Strategy XXI, expressed this opinion in an interview with hromadske.
According to him, as a result of Trump’s actions, many American partners no longer see the U.S. as a reliable ally, which is affecting the number of long-term orders for powerful American companies.
“Some countries are already refusing American weapons and are reconsidering their approach to purchasing other American goods. All of this will impact the well-being of the average American. Discontent with Trump’s actions will grow,” the expert believes.
Honchar also thinks that it is Trump’s psychological profile and character traits that make him “play the role of the Kremlin’s useful idiot” with his alternative truths, and Russia is reaping the benefits of this.
“Even if investigative journalists do find traces of some compromising information, Trump will ignore it all, just as he ignored similar things during his election campaign. At present, he maintains a high level of support in American society, but that won’t last forever. That’s why he wants to achieve all his goals quickly,” says Honchar.
