UK Prime Minister Starmer proposes Gaza-style peace plan for Ukraine
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has proposed cooperating with the U.S. to develop a peace plan for Ukraine, modeled on the 20-point plan that President Donald Trump's administration proposed for Gaza
Axios reported the information.
The publication states that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conference call with European leaders immediately after his meeting with Trump.
Some of them were surprised by Trump's apparent change of mind, according to a source who participated in the conversation.
Shortly thereafter, the leaders began to issue coordinated statements in support of Ukraine – a clear sign that the meeting with Trump was not successful.
During Zelenskyy's conversation with European leaders, Starmer proposed working with the U.S. on a peace plan for Ukraine, modeled on Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza.
In turn, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte proposed urgently holding a follow-up call between European national security advisors over the weekend.
- On Friday, October 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with American leader Donald Trump at the White House. The leaders spoke for over two hours. Among the key topics were security guarantees, Tomahawks, and territories.
