Turkey hints at possible Ukraine-Russia leaders’ summit in Istanbul
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says that during recent negotiations in Istanbul, Ukraine and Russia reportedly agreed to hold a leaders’ summit in Turkey

The minister said the July 23 talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul focused on the conditions and arrangements for a possible leaders’ meeting.
“In principle, an agreement was reached to hold a leaders’ summit in Turkey. At this stage, the main responsibility lies with the negotiating delegations,” he said.
Fidan noted he sees a desire to reach a “common solution.”
“If things continue this way, I believe an interim solution will emerge. Each side has its trump card they haven’t revealed. We are trying to create a favorable atmosphere for this,” added the Turkish Foreign Minister.
- On July 23, the third round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul. The main topics were ceasefire, prisoner release, and organizing a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin.
- The Russian leader's spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed doubts about the likelihood of a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy by the end of August.
