Trump's spiritual advisor claims role in boosting U.S.-Ukraine relations
Pastor Mark Burns, a man referred to as the spiritual advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, stated that he was able to strengthen the dialogue between the U.S. and Ukraine after telling him about the consequences of the war in Ukraine that he had witnessed
The Kyiv Independent reported the information.
“I shared with the president and the White House what I experienced in Ukraine. The atrocities done to Ukrainian women, children, senior citizens, and civilians at the hands of the Russians. I shared stories of the 20,000 kidnapped children and the 700 places of faith that were targeted by the Russians,” Burns said.
When asked how Trump reacted to his account of the war, Burns replied: "The president always shows concern and care for innocent people dying and suffering. Which is why you see him putting more pressure on (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and expressing his displeasure with Putin."
Burns, who previously supported a pause in military aid to Ukraine, radically changed his position after visiting Kryvyi Rih—a city that suffered a devastating missile strike by Russia, which claimed the lives of 20 people, including nine children. In an interview with the Kyiv Independent, he stated that "supporting Ukraine is America first and foremost."
After a recent meeting with Donald Trump, Burns reported specific actions taken by the President. According to him, Trump approved the first batch of military supplies for Ukraine, thereby sending a "powerful signal" about the unwavering American support for Ukraine's right to self-defense.
In addition, Burns noted the creation of the U.S.-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund, which he described as a monumental step toward providing Ukraine with the resources for recovery and economic growth.
- On April 30, Ukraine and the United States signed an agreement to establish the Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund.
