How could it happen that the United States, still the flagship of the Western world, has now found itself almost in the role of an ally of terrorist number one, Russian dictator Putin?

If someone had said just a few years ago that the United States could become an ally of the totalitarian Russian Federation, I would never have believed it. But now it is almost a done deal. U.S. President Donald Trump increasingly demonstrates that Moscow is becoming a geopolitical priority for him. Although members of the unchivalrous political order of "Trumpliers" are far from all of America, this must be kept in mind when we examine the White House leader's drift toward Russian dictator Putin.

But the fact that the United States at the UN General Assembly voted against the Ukrainian resolution "Strengthening international cooperation and coordination of efforts to study, mitigate and minimize the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster" together with Russia and Belarus, explaining this by ideological contradictions regarding the document's wording, is simply shocking. Because it means that in the future, Washington may continue to unite with Moscow in other directions of diplomatic work as well.

I belong to that generation of Kyivans who from our youth listened to Radio Liberty, Voice of America, and other Western radio stations. We knew for certain that Radio Liberty and Voice of America would never spread unreliable or unverified information. And therefore everything they reported and disseminated was the truth.

This continued throughout my entire subsequent life. And I never thought that after Donald Trump's arrival in the presidential office, such a time could come when the United States, which for me and my peers became almost another promised land, together with Russia and its satellite Belarus, would jointly oppose Ukraine in the United Nations.

For me, this is not only complete nonsense that simply doesn't fit in my head, but also a complete upending of that image of America which for long decades was the recognized leader of Western democracy. How could it happen that the United States, still the flagship of the Western world, has now found itself almost in the role of an ally of terrorist number one, Russian dictator Putin?

"But having somewhat recovered from the shock of the shift in concepts and priorities of official Washington, it's worth thinking about how not to become an anti-American. After all, despite everything, the U.S. continues to remain our strategic ally, and Donald Trump cannot be president forever. Especially considering his already very considerable age for any top-tier politician."

In that case, one needs to write out theses that can step by step explain the situation that is objectively taking shape:

1. Donald Trump's term of office is finite, and based on the political situation in the U.S., it's still far from certain that he will be able to complete it fully to the end. Therefore, for Ukrainians, and indeed all other Europeans, it is now important not to make sharp political moves, and to think through their further actions several steps ahead.

"2. From everything, it appears that at some stage of this protracted geopolitical game with the Russian Federation, it will be possible to prove to the American president that Putin is simply dragging out time. Therefore, any agreements with him make no sense until it is possible to liberate all Ukrainian lands from Moscow's occupation."

3. Trump's supporters and electorate are still far from all of the United States. Therefore, one cannot rule out that in 2026, Republicans, if Trumpists continue to conduct such senseless policy as they have so far, will lose their majority in Congress and the Senate. And this, in turn, will tie the sitting U.S. president's hands, and he will no longer be able to attempt to forcibly bend the entire world to his will.

4. There are great chances that Donald Trump, despite his hyperegotistical impulses, will not manage to cope with the "Deep State." And this will mean that the hitherto successful democratic experiment called the United States, thanks to the preservation of constitutional principles, will not be canceled. And in accordance with the current American constitution, the rule of law will not cease to exist, since it will not be replaced by the ruling political cartel – MAGA.

"No matter how, in today's political climate, followers of Trumpism adore their "king," they will never succeed in spreading this adoration to all of America."

On the contrary, after failures and non-fulfillment of promises voiced by Trump during the election campaign, which he is incapable of implementing, his popularity among potential voters will sharply fall.

5. The "black hole" of Trumpism will not have time to suck in, thanks to its negative political gravity, Congress, the Senate and the Supreme Court. American society will be able to influence the course of political events in their country. After all, the U.S. is too large and diverse to be so easily subjugated to the will of a person who constantly balances on the edge of the permissible. Making attempts to change the principles and laws that were laid in the foundation of American democracy.

6. The fact that Trump has placed unprepared and incompetent but completely devoted people in very important positions may play a cruel joke on him. Personal loyalty can never replace professionalism. And therefore, the result of his team's actions can already be predicted in advance. One can only hope that America will not manage to fall apart before the time when he leaves the presidential office.

7. The anti-democratic chaos in the U.S. can be stopped if Americans understand that for almost a year in power, Donald Trump has been feeding them unfulfillable promises. Since it is impossible to stop Russia's war in Ukraine with words alone. The turning point of which may be that the U.S. president will stop repeating that Putin wants "peace." Since from the very beginning it was obvious that the dictator did not start his war for this purpose.

8. Trump will not be able to endlessly position himself as blind to historical precedents, therefore real help to Ukraine could become a lifeline for his administration. And he could prove to Americans that he is capable of fulfilling at least some part of his promises.

9. Should the U.S. president, puffing out his cheeks with self-admiration, continue destroying the stock market and world economic structure? After all, until now the entire world played by America's and the U.S. dollar's rules, and this is precisely what made the United States a world superpower. Perhaps there will still be found in Trump's circle of people who will be able to explain to him that if the world economy is pushed away from the U.S. and the dollar, then America will very quickly lose those strategic advantages that it has had for centuries.

10. The main failure of the U.S. president today is that he still does not have a convincing plan for his work. And worst of all, he is unable to develop one. Trump has assembled a group of sycophants who, although they reflect his illogical convictions, lack experience managing the agencies they were put in charge of. And this is another question, how Congress was able to approve such Trumpian "leaders."

"11. The U.S. president will still have to learn that when you are an autocrat and people hate you, you can still "reign" while the world fears you. However, if you are an autocrat, and people in your country hate you, but the entire world no longer fears you, your rule is coming to an end."

12. Americans should be oppressed by the thought that tens of millions still support such a president and his catastrophic policy. Will they manage to see clearly and stop supporting the complete destruction of what makes America great before this process becomes irreversible?

13. In 2026, Americans will celebrate the 250th anniversary since the creation of the American state. Is this the kind of result the founding fathers of the United States dreamed of? After all, Trump is dismantling the foundations of democracy, and the Republican Party supports him in this.

14. Despite his painful self-importance, Donald Trump does not know how to negotiate and make deals. He only knows how to push ahead, but now this is not working. He greatly overestimates his own intelligence and underestimates the intellectual strength of leadership in the countries targeted by his actions. And this is bad for the allies, partners and sympathizers of the United States.

15. By temperament and methods of implementing his powers in office, Trump is unfit to be president. Because from the very beginning he manages America as if his job is that of a reality show host who must constantly keep the audience informed of current affairs and nothing more. Perhaps this is why he does so many ill-considered things that no U.S. president before him has ever done.

"16. He calls Putin his friend at a time when terrorist Russia is not only waging war in Ukraine, but has not changed its position – to regard the United States as its long-term enemy. Therefore, the Russian dictator, continuing the war, tells his Washington "friend" that this is the path to "peace," and for some reason the latter still believes him."

17. The fact that Trump is still supported by many people testifies to the fact that American politics is beginning to lose the checks and balances that have held until now. He is destroying America's image throughout the world, which thousands of leading American politicians have worked on for decades. In confirmation of which hundreds of thousands of Americans died in World War II and subsequent armed conflicts with enemies of democracy. Now all of this is being crossed out by the will of one person.

18. Now much depends on Americans themselves whether Donald Trump will transform from a potential into a real dictator. The MAGA political grouping is clearly pushing him toward this. Dismantling democracy in the United States is possible under certain conditions, but this will only lead to a split in society and division of the state into parts. Does America need this?

19. 11 months of Donald Trump's second presidency can be described as producing chaos. But perhaps in the White House they will be able to draw some lessons from all of this for the future?

From everything it follows that Donald Trump is still not ready to open his eyes to the extremely complex situation that has developed around Ukraine and Russia, which does not wish to abandon all its claims to illegally occupied foreign territories. But the malicious geopolitical Quasimodo Putin must be stopped in Ukraine.

"However, the 47th president's attempts to overturn the politics and economics of the entire world in favor of a narrow circle of wealthy moneybags close to him is inflaming anti-Americanism, which will continue long after the completion of his second term. Donald Trump acts chaotically, not fully understanding how this experiment may end for the entire world."

We all remember the phrase of one of the most respected leaders in world history, Winston Churchill: "Americans will do the right thing after they have tried all other options." But this time the damage from Trump's inadequate political behavior may prove to be extremely destructive.

After all, Donald Trump has begun to gamble on the very existence of the Ukrainian state, thereby crossing out all previous guarantees that America gave to Ukrainians.

Moreover, he may destroy NATO, put an end to North American trade agreements, signaling that the previous decades of political certainty and security guarantees have ended. Can one then expect that any European country will take such an "ally" seriously? After all, allies do not behave this way.

But the main thing for everyone is not to equate anti-Trumpism with anti-Americanism. Focusing attention on counteracting Donald Trump's decisions, which he makes on behalf of the United States, that may have destructive consequences.

Right now Ukraine and Europe need their own defense alliance, nuclear and technological platforms. The European continent must take responsibility for its security upon itself. Such is today's reality. And a surge of emotions and anti-Americanism is simply a waste of time.

"Europe and Ukraine, as its integral part, will lose very much if America loses its hegemony. Therefore, one should not equate Trump's persona with all of the United States, which is now struggling with the destructive infection of authoritarian Trumpism."

And however pompous this may sound, it is not only Ukraine that needs America's help, but the U.S. also needs Ukraine's help. After all, when Donald Trump fails to get as close as possible to Moscow at the expense of surrendering the strategic interests of the Ukrainian state, this will deliver a decisive blow to his authority among the participants of the MAGA group.

No matter how he tries, Trump will not succeed in slowing down the process of the beginning of the disintegration of the totalitarian Putin's Russian empire. But if he continues with his actions to provoke the destruction of the United States, then the time is not far off when in Congress and the Senate they will begin to talk about Donald Trump's own anti-American activities.

And these will be far more serious accusations than those once advanced by Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy, heading the Committee for the Investigation of Un-American Activities.
