Trump-Putin friendship may be similar to Stalin-Hitler relationship with the same result — Prof. Aizenberg
Professor Igor Aizenberg of Manhattan University believes that the friendship between Donald Trump and Russian war criminal Vladimir Putin could lead to World War III
He expressed this opinion during a broadcast on Espreso
"I fear that this friendship between Trump and Putin could closely resemble the relationship between Stalin and Hitler. Unfortunately, it could lead to the same outcome. When individuals with such a mentality 'befriend' each other, one of them may miscalculate their capabilities to such an extent that the other perceives it as a severe insult. That could trigger events similar to those of World War II. It’s truly horrifying. For me, the mere fact of Trump meeting with Putin is a disgrace for the United States. Trump is essentially eager to meet with a war criminal. He calls him, talks to him, and then posts statements on social media that align with a completely criminal regime," Aizenberg stated.
The professor condemned Donald Trump's behavior, calling it disgraceful. According to him, Trump is undermining all the values and freedoms of the democratic world that were established after World War II.
"Putin is a criminal responsible for the deaths of, if not millions, then hundreds of thousands of people in various countries. We must not forget what he did in Syria, where Russians were killing civilians even before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Therefore, it is appalling that the President of the United States is acting this way—the leader of the country that helped create the democratic world," he added.
Trump-Putin phone call: what is known
On March 18, U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin that lasted about two hours. The two sides agreed that the path to peace should begin with halting attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Moscow demanded that Ukraine suspend mobilization and halt the rearmament of its armed forces during a potential ceasefire.
Following the talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Putin effectively rejected the proposal for a complete ceasefire.
