U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine will "make a deal" next week

He wrote about this on the evening of Sunday, April 20, 2025, on his social media platform, Truth Social.
"Hopefully Russia and Ukraine will make a deal this week. Both will then start to do big business with the United States of America, which is thriving, and make a fortune!" wrote the American leader.
ceasefire" announced by Russian leader Putin was observed only in the air (with no air raid alarms sounding) and proposed that Russia refrain from any mutual drone and missile strikes on civilian infrastructure for the next 30 days.
The Kremlin has not yet responded officially to this proposal.
- On Friday, April 18, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that he may step back from efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine if there is no rapid progress in negotiations.
