Trump: mineral deal with Ukraine will outweigh U.S. spending on aid
President Trump stated that, following the signing of the mineral resources agreement, the United States could end up recouping more than the $350 billion it has spent on Ukraine
He made this statement during a phone interview on NewsNation.
Trump has repeatedly stated that the U.S. has spent around $350 billion in aid to Ukraine, although the actual figure is believed to be lower.
"The Europeans spent 100 billion, and their money is safe because they have Russian money in their banks. Biden gave them (Ukraine, – ed.) $350 billion in cash and military equipment... and we got nothing," Trump said.
Therefore, according to him, he felt deceived and mentioned the "wonderful rare-earth materials they have."
"And today, we made a deal where, theoretically, we will receive much more than $350 billion," Trump added.
He also noted that he wants to help quickly reach a strong peace deal to stop the deaths of soldiers on both sides and civilians.
