Those who stand for peace should be in Ukraine on May 9, not in Moscow — Kallas
All those who truly advocate for peace should be in Ukraine on May 9, not in Moscow. At the same time, the EU is working on a new package of sanctions against Russia
This statement was made by European Commission Vice President and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas ahead of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Warsaw, according to Ukrinform.
"It is clear that all those who stand for peace should be in Ukraine, not in Moscow, when it comes to May 9, which is Europe Day – when we celebrate Europe as a peace project," she emphasized.
Kallas said that the ministers will travel to Lviv to discuss further support for Ukraine, including in the presence of partners from outside the European Union.
The diplomat also noted that the European Union is working on the 17th package of sanctions against Russia to increase pressure and force the Kremlin toward peace. According to her, the EU and the United Kingdom share a common vision of this process.
Earlier, it became known that on May 9, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, as well as the presidents of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, Emomali Rahmon and Ilham Aliyev, plan to visit Moscow.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government has invited EU leaders to Kyiv on May 9 as a demonstration of diplomatic strength against Putin's annual military parade in Moscow.
EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas stated that EU countries that decide to send their representatives to the May 9 parade in Moscow will face consequences.
