This is according to Die Zeit.
Sources within government circles suggest that a conversation between Scholz and Putin may take place before the G20 summit in Brazil this November. However, no official request for the meeting has been made yet.
Their last phone call occurred in December 2022. The article points out that U.S. President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also last spoke directly with Putin that same year.
- Previously, Scholz mentioned how Putin, prior to the full-scale invasion, attempted to convince him that Ukraine was supposedly part of Russia.
