Russian strikes on Ukraine mirror Nazi bombing of London — Estonian MFA
Estonian Foreign Ministry Chancellor Jonatan Vseviov says that Russia's targeted attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure are reminiscent of how the Nazis bombed London during World War II
ERR reported the information.
Vseviov emphasized that the West must respond with new sanctions against Russia, and the Russian attacks on Ukraine on the weekend of May 24-25 are "the best proof that no peace process is taking place anywhere."
"And until we manage, through our actions and not words, to make Putin understand that time is no longer on his side, there is no reason to expect that any negotiations will lead to a strategic breakthrough," he said.
According to him, it is worth worrying about what actions Western countries will take in response to Moscow's actions, and whether "they will be able to move from words to deeds," in particular, to new sanctions.
"When the Nazis systematically bombed London in order to instill in the British people that they had no hope. These were attacks aimed at destroying hope. They failed. Similarly, today's strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities are aimed exclusively at civilian infrastructure, aimed at undermining the hope of Ukrainians. I believe that these attacks will also fail, because Russia systematically underestimates the ability of Ukrainians to resist," said the Chancellor of the Estonian Foreign Ministry.
Vseviov also stressed that Estonia supports additional sanctions against Russia.
- On the evening of Sunday, May 25, the Russian army launched attack drones at Ukraine, followed by missiles entering Ukrainian airspace later in the morning. The strikes caused damage in several regions.
