Russia aims to turn Poland’s political leadership against Ukraine - Ukrainian MP
Poland will not become anti-Ukrainian, but Russia will do everything possible to ensure that the next Polish parliament and government are hostile to Ukraine, especially if a president runs for office with anti-Ukrainian slogans
Ukrainian MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi said this on Espreso TV.
"The greatest danger for Ukraine is that we want to see Poland as our ally. For this, Poland must think strategically and support us in international politics, European unity, and providing financial aid," Kniazhytskyi said.
According to the MP, if Poland begins to turn inward and fight itself domestically, then unfortunately, the "Ukrainian issue" will remain relevant for both supporters of Nawrocki in the event of his victory and for members of the coalition, who also use anti-Ukrainian rhetoric. They do not seek this, but they also don’t want to lose their electorate, especially with parliamentary elections ahead.
"And this is where the problem arises: an anti-Ukrainian wave will gain momentum, and the Polish government will be ineffective in supporting Ukraine. These are the biggest threats. Poland will not become anti-Ukrainian, it will not block us and will try to help, but Russia will do everything possible to ensure that its next parliament and government also become anti-Ukrainian if a president who campaigns on anti-Ukrainian slogans wins," Kniazhytskyi emphasized.
- Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Ariev stated that the results of the Polish elections could be surprising and troubling even for Poles themselves.
- Polish politician and public figure Miroslaw Czech believes that historical issues will keep influencing relations between Ukraine and Poland, given that one of the foundations of Polish policy is historical memory.
