Romanian, Serbian presidents set for their first visit to Ukraine
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and newly elected Romanian leader Nicușor Dan will visit Ukraine for a one-day visit on Wednesday, June 11
The Serbian leader’s office announced his visit.
This will be Vučić’s first visit to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
He is expected to participate in the Ukraine–Southeast Europe summit, which will take place in Odesa.
Additionally, the office of the Romanian president announced that Nicușor Dan will arrive in Odesa the same day. He will also take part in the fourth Ukraine–Southeast Europe summit, chaired by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Ukraine–Southeast Europe format was launched in 2023 as a regional platform to support Ukraine and jointly address the complex consequences of the war.
The office of the Romanian president stated that Dan will reaffirm Romania’s commitment to continue supporting Ukraine at all levels, as well as to join efforts for peace and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
“During his trip to Odesa, President Nicușor Dan will also participate in a trilateral meeting between Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, where he will discuss with his colleagues the most important interconnection projects, including energy infrastructure, the EU accession process, and cooperation on security,” the statement said.
- Earlier, in May, Aleksandar Vučić attended the parade in Moscow and met there with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He stated that he is not afraid of any punishment for his visit to Russia.
