Political scientist Serhiy Taran believes that U.S. President Donald Trump is trying to break the China-Russia alliance

He said this on the Espreso TV channel.

“It is important to understand that Trump, as he promised a year ago during his election campaign, is carrying out a large-scale geopolitical shift aimed at redirecting America’s interests toward containing China. Part of this plan involves breaking the China-Russia alliance.

Since the U.S. does not want China to gain access to Russia’s resources, resolving the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war is necessary to implement this plan. In other words, Trump is dealing with this issue by making decisions based on his own interests,” Taran noted.

According to the political scientist, when Donald Trump speculates about the situation in Ukraine, he actually understands very well what is happening. Trump knows exactly who attacked whom and understands the causes of the war. However, he has a different goal. That is why he says what, in his view, reflects U.S. interests.

“So, in this situation, what should we do? Do the same—defend our own interests. Right now, the most important thing for Ukraine is to uphold its interests as much as possible. And if there is a strategic pause in the war between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine must secure the most favorable conditions for itself.

That is what must be done. And that is why every word we say must be checked against this goal. If it aligns with this goal, we should say it. If it does not, we should not. This is a chess game that requires a cold mind: those who play strategically win, while those who act on emotions do not,” Taran emphasized.

  • Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he expects a visit from Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the United States. However, he did not specify the possible date of the visit.
