With Washington halting intelligence exchanges with Ukraine, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu has offered Kyiv an alternative source of support.

The U.S. stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine on Wednesday, March 5. However, the New York Times noted that this isn’t critical, as European companies have their own satellites — though not all are geared toward tracking military deployments.

In response to Washington’s move, France has stepped up, offering its own intelligence support.

France is offering Ukraine intelligence data, the outlet quotes Sébastien Lecornu as saying.

  • Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron has announced a meeting of European chiefs of staff to discuss the war in Ukraine, amid waning U.S. support. At the same time, he expressed hope that Washington will remain “on our side.”
