EU needs new winning strategy for Ukraine, says Lithuanian FM
On Monday, November 18, Lithuania's Acting Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis called for a review of Ukraine's strategy for victory during a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels
Landsbergis said Ukraine needs a new strategy focused on strength, not on avoiding escalation. "We need a new winning strategy for Ukraine that would come from strength and ability to mobilize," he emphasized.
He pointed out that the current strategy has failed after nearly a thousand days of war. "Peace through de-escalation is a failing strategy. It is fair to say that the way we have helped Ukraine over the past three years - almost a thousand days - has failed," he added.
The EU Foreign Ministers' Council is meeting in Brussels on November 18, with Ukraine's situation as a key topic. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will participate in the discussion online. The following day, EU defense ministers will also discuss Ukraine's situation, with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov joining online.
- Lithuania's Senior National Security Advisor Kęstutis Budrys stated that the country is open to sending military instructors to Ukraine.
