Ukraine faces two possible outcomes after Israeli strike on Iran — Ukrainian lawmaker
Israeli strike against Iran could be a mixed bag for Ukraine. On the one hand, it weakens a Russian ally, but on the other hand, it could pull international attention away from helping Ukraine
Ukrainian MP Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said this on Espreso TV.
“There are two possible outcomes for us. On the one hand, it is important and beneficial that an ally of Russia has come under attack. We're talking about a country that provides military assistance to Russia, transfers military technologies, and supplies weapons. For us, this likely means a certain weakening of this Russian ally,” Klympush-Tsintsadze noted.
At the same time, she said, it is currently difficult to assess what capabilities Iran still has after the strike.
“We understand that there will be retaliation, but Israel will likely be able to count on support and won’t have to face this retaliation alone. Let me remind you that there has already been a massive attack by Iran on Israel, and missiles were intercepted not only by Israeli forces but also over the territories of other countries.
This is an escalation in the Middle East, which, unfortunately, may divert attention and potential aid to Ukraine from some of our international partners. And this will undoubtedly be a challenge for us,” Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasized.
- On the night of June 13, Israel launched a large-scale operation against Iran and carried out preemptive strikes on its nuclear and military facilities.
