France, UK, Turkey push for deployment of up to 30,000 peacekeepers to Ukraine
France, the United Kingdom, and Turkey intend to present and advocate for a proposal to deploy peacekeeping forces in Ukraine during the Coalition of the Willing summit
Radio Liberty reports.
The initiative envisions possible logistical and intelligence support from the United States. According to preliminary estimates, the force could number between 15,000 and 20,000 troops, with some scenarios reaching up to 30,000. France and the United Kingdom plan to provide the bulk of the personnel, while Turkey would be responsible for ensuring maritime security in the Black Sea. It is expected that the forces would be deployed primarily in western Ukraine.
Additionally, Ukraine's allies are considering the implementation of politically and legally binding security guarantees in case of a new armed attack by Russia. This is mentioned in the draft declaration of the Coalition of the Willing.
"These commitments may include the use of military capabilities, intelligence, and logistical support, as well as the adoption of additional sanctions," the document states.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, is demanding that the Coalition of the Willing countries consult with Moscow regarding security guarantees for Ukraine.
