Britain to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles for strikes on Russia – media
Senior officials in the UK have decided to let Ukraine target Russian locations using Storm Shadow missiles
This was reported by the Guardian, citing sources within the British government.
The report states that the decision has already been made, although it is not expected to be publicly announced during the meeting between UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and U.S. President Joe Biden.
According to sources, the joint trip of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy to Kyiv to meet President Zelenskyy wouldn’t have happened without a positive decision on Storm Shadow.
However, a public declaration of long-range missile use in Kyiv would be seen as an unnecessary provocation. It's likely that restrictions will still apply, limiting Ukraine’s use of these missiles, which have a range of at least 190 miles, to prevent reckless or unneeded strikes, the outlet added.
- Just the day before, the Independent reported that Britain had not altered its stance on granting Ukraine permission to strike Russian targets using Storm Shadow missiles.
