Biden slams Trump’s Ukraine policy as 'appeasement' toward Russia
Former U.S. President Joe Biden commented on the stance of current American leader Donald Trump regarding Russia in the war with Ukraine, calling it a modern policy of appeasement
He said this in an interview with the BBC.
The publication notes that since taking office, Donald Trump has told Ukraine it should consider ceding territory to end the war.
“It is modern day appeasement,” Biden said of the current U.S. president’s approach.
At the same time, he said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin views Ukraine as “part of Mother Russia.”
“He believes he has historical rights to Ukraine... He can't stand the fact that […] the Soviet Union has collapsed. And anybody who thinks he's going to stop is just foolish,” Biden explained.
The former U.S. president expressed concern that Trump’s approach could signal to other European countries that it’s time to give in to Russia.
Earlier, in his Easter greeting to Americans, Trump mentioned former President Joe Biden, calling him “a very destructive moron.”
