White House goes on record saying that Iran handed over drones to Russia
Russia has received Mohajer-6 and Shahed drones from Iran over a number of days in August.
White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre stated this at a briefing on Tuesday, August 30.
"According to our data, Russia received Mohajer-6 and Shahed drones from Iran within a few days in August. UAV equipment was loaded onto Russian transport planes at an airfield in Iran, then they flew from Iran to Russia. This is what we see, these are our estimates," she said.
Karin Jean-Pierre, however, did not comment on whether Russia was preparing to use Iranian drones in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel confirmed that the US believes that Russia has received unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Iran and "intends to use these Iranian UAVs, which can conduct air-to-surface attacks, electronic warfare and battlefield targeting in Ukraine".
